Frat-Style Hijinks

Two frat-tastic events converged this weekend at the Village Pour House: "Wacky urban adventure" the Great Urban Race, plus! An actual toga party.

Here come some Urban Racers, hurrying off across campus to find their next fun clue!

There go a couple of girls in togas, having had their fill of Pour House brewskies!

And here they are together--converging! The urban racers are racing. The toga dude is on his cell phone in the middle of the street. Who said the East Village wasn't a kick-ass party zone?

But it's nothing compared to Flushing. Coincidentally, this past weekend, hipsters had a toga bash of their own at the Queens Museum--only theirs was an art party--complete with fruit-throwing, boat-burning, and partial nudity. Interestingly, this article in the Daily News profiles both the frat/sorority kids and the hipster kids in their mutual desire to recreate the security and fun of college life here in the big city.

It's starting to look a lot like Animal House around here.
