Since that time the beloved Avignone pharmacy was forced from its very, extended-time location on Bleecker Street, we've been waiting to find out an amount take its place.
And here you go. Sweetgreen.
It's a series store. They generate salads.
They've got over 45 locations across the nation. They've got a "story" and "core values." Their primary core value, as outlined by their site, is "win, win, win."
With this newly opened location, they held a "private tasting exclusive to NYU." Everyone inside looked really young and healthy and excited being there. One young woman carried a bag in spite of this "EAT PLANTS!"

From the battle of Old The Big Apple versus New Nyc, I suppose Sweetgreen won, won, won.
Avignone was the oldest apothecary in the usa. Family run, it turned out operational in New York City for 183 years. It's building was sold to a hedge fund called Force Capital Management. They tripled the rent to $60,000, essentially forcing Avignone out. The spot sat empty for some time while.
